Michael Wala

Michael (Mike) Wala, age 96, died on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital. Mike was born on Sept. 29, 1920 in Poland. He is a Siberian labor camp survivor and a World War II veteran, who served in the Second Corps of the Polish Armed Forces under the command of General W. Anders in 1942 and in the Polish Navy on the ORP Piorun under British command in 1943. Mike is survived by Teresa, his beloved wife of 58 years; his daughter, Lydia; son, Peter (Ewa) and his grandchildren, Matthew, Natalia, Virginia, Collette and Justyna. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews across the globe. The Wala Family would like to extend their gratitude to all the staff at Hines VA for their attentive care.
