Christina “Kiki” (“Grandma Kiki”) Medellin was a loving mother,
grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world to be
with her Lord and savior Jesus Christ on May 8th , 2023 at the age of 71.
Christina was born to Carlota Martinez and Genaro Medellin on July 24th ,
1951. Before leaving her home state of Indiana, Christina considered serving
in the U.S. military but it was not meant to be at the time due to matters out
of her control. Christina would move to Illinois and work various jobs over
the years, ranging from working at a movie theater, within the insurance
industry, steel mill to later in her life, big business corporations. Christina
occasionally worked part-time jobs during the summer months, one of her
favorites being the “Taste of Chicago” events. Christina enjoyed to work and
more so, enjoyed giving to others when she was able to. She was selfless.
Christina is survived by her six children, Federico Sanchez, Freddy Sanchez,
Gabriel Medellin, Albert Medellin, Ruby Medellin and Sylvia Medellin. Also,
seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She loved her
grandchildren and great grandchildren. Christina is also survived by a
daughter in-law and a son in-law.
Christina loved being with her family and creating delicious meals for them.
She loved dogs, birds and once, a gerbil. Native American culture and history
was of great interest to Christina. Christina enjoyed watching movies,
especially action movies. She really enjoyed listening to Christmas music
during the holidays, starting as early as Thanksgiving. She gave thanks for
her blessings on a daily basis. Lastly, Christina greatly enjoyed sunshine and
sunsets. On her last day on earth, the sun was out in abundance.
